In separate places and over immense distance we had waited for ‘the rest of the story’ for as long as we could remember and the whole thing seemed to a joke, a sham. Characters that we had waited to see again post-childhood played by the original actors had been wholly unfamiliar, even missing. New characters seemed forced, flat and feeble. The film had seemed like a terrible troll, poking fun at our expectations, pulling down our hopes while shredding our dreams and memories. It was at this point I finally, genuinely felt a kind of vindication, a validation. I was pissed off about this film
