He was very subtle and very restrained. He had a deep understanding that an actor didn’t have to explain everything by speaking. He was a very practical actor.

Govind feels that there are actors out there who need to show off their acting skills, but that quality was not there in Irrfan.

‘Mehnat toh kar rahe hote hain, lekin agar woh mehnat dikh jaye, phir audience ka maza nikal jaata hai (They are working hard, but if the audience sees that hard work, then they lose the fun of it.). They can tell the actor is acting.’

‘I was travelling on a speedy train ride, had dreams, plans, aspirations, goals, was fully engaged in them,’ he said in the interview with The Times of India. ‘And suddenly someone taps on my shoulder and I turn to see. It’s the TC: “Your destination is about to come. Please get down.”’94 And then he added, ‘The only thing certain was the uncertainty… This realization made me submit, surrender and trust, irrespective of the outcome, irrespective of where this takes me…’
