Could all this be at least part of the reason, largely unstudied by modern historians, why witches “represented the most dangerous of all enemies of the human race and the Christian Church”? What is more threatening to the institutional integrity of the Vatican than a Eucharist that provides a true beatific vision? If Lucretia and her sisters could properly “consecrate” a Eucharist for themselves, what was the point of the priest?
