Harvard’s greatest religious historian of the twentieth century, who postulated the secret “symbols” and “language” that bound together the followers of Dionysus, once wrote an obscure article about lizard magic, which I could only find in hard copy at Harvard’s Center for Hellenic Studies in Washington, D.C.
