That’s the strangest thing about Speech and Debate—how self-serious some of the kids are. There were white kids from private schools on the Upper West Side performing excerpts from John Leguizamo’s Ghetto Klown with no sense of irony. You haven’t lived until you’ve heard a kid named Ezra Kleinman very earnestly deliver the line “I did what any other Spanish kid raised in the ghetto would do—I acted like a retard!”
