My bellysong was to protect Dayo. And the only way to ensure his safety—the only path to my freedom—was to kill The Lady.
This is not ringing true to me. I'm not sure what the writer could have done differently, but it feels like this part of the plot is just to keep the storyline going. IMO, this is not well done
