Feminists in America would never cheer Nike for putting a swoosh on Mormon underwear, yet they cheer for it being put on religiously prescribed modesty clothing from a different religion.
We get called Islamophobic for criticizing Sharia and pushing for change. Why should we have to retain our misogynist, homophobic cultures? Cultures are not sacred-they are dynamic. They are meant to be changed with human progress. That is not a bad thing. It was not a bad thing for you and it is not a bad thing for us.
Why is this condescending attitude only reserved for the religion of the “little brown savages?” Is it bigotry of low expectations?
hope that people will start to assess one another and deal with one another based on ideas and not identities. I hope that when people meet a girl being beaten by her family, they won’t bow down to the ethnicity of her parents.
