Over the last two years, when people have asked me for advice on dealing with the Trump regime, I told them to learn to think like the enemy (but not act like them) and have infinite backup plans. Given that the enemy telegraphs its intentions, the first part of this strategy should be easy to achieve, yet officials often do not practice it.
