The long extinct Ismenian Dragon was once a powerful Order. As the largest of the Dragon Orders, its fire was three times the strength of its smaller cousins. Often darkest blue in colour, it had a forked tongue and poisonous breath which could kill a Fae up to ten metres away.
Because being alone at night was starting to break me.
Oh yeah, I do have a girlfriend.
I seriously had to break that off.
In Solaria blue means royal. And to me, blue means you.
I hadn’t spent the last few weeks trailing her around campus to protect her from them just to quit now and leave her vulnerable.
The way my heart was beating as I held her close had nothing to do with it.
-would fucking break me. So don’t you dare give in to them. I’ll follow you into the shadows if I have to and drag you away from them kicking and screaming. Because they can’t have you. They fucking can’t.”
She hated me. And I hated her.
Sorry would go a long way. But hell if I’m going to spoon feed you.
“Maybe I don’t want to let you go.” His mouth grazed my temple, then he drew away and headed off down the path, my heart beating frantically as I watched him leave.
What will a Fae do to claim their rightful place in Solaria? Anything.
And I want her to be mine.
She wasn’t just a girl though. Not to me. She was the one girl I shouldn’t want, the one I couldn’t have, the one I didn’t need. And yet I did. And everything in my life could be damaged so badly by that need that I’d fought it tooth and claw up until this point.
I’d pushed her for her hatred because a moment of her scorn meant more to me than what it cost. I took her attention whatever way I could get it because all the time it was on me it lit me up and made me burn. And I wanted to burn with her more than I think I’d ever wanted anything in my life.
“I watch you and hunger for you and ache for you. It torments me like I torment you.”
“Then why do it?” I asked. “Why not just look away?” “I’d find it easier to carve my eyes out than I would to stop them landing on you.”
“There are countless people who would say I’m not allowed to want you,” Darius breathed. “But you make me want to burn the whole world down so that I can claim you for my own.” “Then we should burn it down,” I agreed.
