My gaze raked over the picture of his tight abs glistening with water and I groaned. “Why does he have to be such an asshole?” I complained. “If he wasn’t, you probably wouldn’t like him at all,” she reasoned, and I couldn’t help but laugh at that. “That is a tragically accurate assessment,” I agreed.
Orion stepped aside, revealing what he'd written on the board. YOU ARE ALL BOTTOM-FEEDING LOSERS. My mouth fell open as he glared at the class, looking like he was about to unleash the apocalypse on us.

“She's suffocating!” Jillian wailed, patting Kylie on the back as she turned blue. “Professor!” I gasped when he drew near me, and he shot me a dark glare. “Yes, Miss Vega?” he questioned, totally calm, that twisted smile pulling at his mouth. “She's choking,” I hissed, and he shifted his gaze to Kylie as if he'd just noticed her. “Five points from Aer for stating the obvious.” He strode past me, and I swivelled in my seat, glaring at his back as he went.

“If I don't get an answer in the next ten seconds, someone's head is going to be introduced to the ceiling,” Orion said coolly. Everyone started calling out answers as he held up two hands, counting down fingers one at a time. “The Nymphs?!” someone cried. “The Reckoning?” someone else tried. “Hell Week is going to kill us?” Jillian wailed. “We suck?” Diego blurted and Orion paused one second from finishing his countdown and used that finger to point at him. “What specifically do you suck at?” he demanded. “Um, everything?” Diego tried and I couldn't help the snort of laughter that escaped me.
“Did someone want diet coke?” I asked, wondering whose drink I’d ended up with by accident. As much as I argued against Geraldine getting our food and drinks all the time, she insisted on doing it and never forgot our preferences so I doubted she would have made that mistake. Before anyone could respond, Geraldine and Angelica burst into a fit of hysterical laughter, drawing our attention away from Diego’s display of self-pity. “I g-g-got you diet!” she cried, barely able to force the words out between her laughter. “What?” I asked in confusion. “The mayo in your sandwich was half fat too!”

Orion cleared his throat, a mischievous grin pulling at his lips as he wrote today's inspirational quote on the board. YOU ARE ALL A BUNCH OF HORNY TEENAGERS.
“I hope you meant the part about screwing me senseless.” Darius stood leaning against his doorframe at the end of the hall, and I mentally shrugged off the altercation with Marguerite as I stalked towards him. I rolled my eyes at him. “In your dreams.” “Every night,” he agreed, and his tone was serious enough that it brought a blush to my cheeks.
“I have a perfectly good bed downstairs,” I replied, shaking my head just a little. “Why would you want me to stay?” Darius frowned like he wasn’t sure what to say to that, but he inched a little closer all the same. “Because it feels right,” he breathed.

“Do you growl at everyone like that, or do I get under your skin more than most people?” I asked. “I find you particularly frustrating,” he replied evenly.
“He sent me a picture of them together to prove it if you don’t believe me.” Caleb pulled his Atlas from his pocket and flashed the picture Darius had taken of the two of us around at everyone. I glanced at it and was surprised at how much we looked like a happy couple in the snapshot. I was looking straight into the camera, a laughing smile on my face while Darius pressed a kiss to my head, the corner of his mouth hooked into a grin and his arm wrapped around me. “That is a pretty misleading picture,” I said lamely while Darcy mouthed ‘what the hell?’ at me behind Caleb’s back.
