Folks deserved to ride into hell on their own power.
A tiny little monster with a real hard head.
Life in the middle place was supposed to hurt. We’re meant to suffer through them—those years that straddle the uncomplicated life of a child and the complex web of adulthood. They’re pre-programmed to blow chunks. Full helpings of angst and raging hormones, leave very few unscathed.
“Where do you think they’re all headed?” he asked, pointing out to the tiny bobbing lights I’d admired before. “Toward happiness,” I answered without pause. “Someday, that’s where I plan to go.”
STAY.
Forgive.
