It was more that I didn’t like having my success ride on someone else’s ability or inability to perform. It’s a feeling I haven’t been able to shake to this day. I always say that if I were ever going to bet on a horse at the track, then let it be me, goddammit. Because I know I’m going to run as hard as I can.
