“Despite their growing influence and responsibilities at work, Gen Xers are most overlooked for promotion and have been the slowest to advance,” according to consulting firm DDI’s Global Leadership Forecast 2018,16 which reported, too, that Gen X leaders are “under-recognized” and “typically expected to take on heavy workloads.” The result: demoralization. A 2019 MetLife survey found that Gen X employees were notable for having “less enthusiasm for purpose in the workplace than other generations.”
