Many of us are getting less help than we should be from our doctors. A 2013 Johns Hopkins survey found that only one in five obstetrics and gynecology residents had received formal training in menopause medicine.22 That’s 20 percent of gynecologists. Forget about general practitioners. Forty-two percent of menopausal women in one survey had never discussed menopause with a health provider; only one in five had received a referral to a menopause specialist.
