Casey suffered a massive seizure in his CIA office. Rushed to a nearby hospital, he was diagnosed with a malignant brain tumor. For the next five months, Casey drifted in and out of consciousness. In May 6, 1987, Casey died in a New York hospital. Exactly what Reagan and Bush knew of Casey’s illegal diversion of funds would remain one of the mysteries of the Reagan presidency.
