You know it's going to be a good book when "duplicitous" and "maple syrup empire" are used in the same sentence.

“I strongly dislike the amount of sense that makes.”

God, Sierra Westmoore was infuriating. Practical and forthright and communicative. Who acted like that?

She liked perfection, and she liked control. The last month had been neither of those things.

With those words, Sierra wasn’t a human anymore. She was a puddle of emotion held together by skin, although at any second, it could begin seeping out of her and into the world, like water forcing itself through a pipe after a clog had been removed.

Best. Sentence. Ever.

Sierra got in her car and drove back to Boston in her pajamas, stopping every thirty minutes to cry.
