Cattle farming isn’t the only cause of deforestation of the world’s forests. Brazil produces about 120 million tons of soybeans and exports about 80 million tons of that to China, where much of it is turned into soybean oil for humans, and the waste products (in the form of soy meal) become feed for pigs. Another issue, not surprisingly, is wood production. And palm oil production is the leading cause of deforestation in Asia.
