Former interim New England Journal of Medicine editor-in-chief Marcia Angell, MD, has been quoted as saying, “It is simply not possible to believe much of the clinical research that has been published or to rely on the judgment of trusted physicians or authoritative medical guidelines. I take no pleasure in this conclusion, which I reached slowly and reluctantly over my two decades as an editor of the New England Journal of Medicine.”
In fact, although a few plant-diet-heavy Blue Zones have been identified, there are numerous populations that we can point to that eat lots and lots of meat and live to be very old. For example, residents of Hong Kong consume more meat than just about any other place in the world. Guess what? They live longer than anyone else!
