Perhaps by their own choosing, or perhaps because of the engineering and management processes the company has constructed, developers just write the code they’re asked to write. The cold, dispassionate process of software development common in some companies is a tragedy both for the business and the developers. I see it as a failure to fully realize the potential of this amazing talent.
