This problem got solved when the second era of software—Software as a Service (SaaS)—began, about twenty years ago. The company that pioneered this model is Salesforce. Its founder and CEO, Marc Benioff, interned as an assembly language programmer at Apple (translation: he was a hard-core coder) and after university joined Oracle, where he quickly became a legendary salesman.
