The Product Owner, as you might expect, is typically the product manager. Their job is not to shield the Development Team from customers, but rather to facilitate an understanding of the customer’s needs to the rest of the team. They should act as a bridge, and enable conversations as needed between customers and the rest of the team. But a good Product Owner is skilled at correctly abstracting the customer problem to be solved, to represent the broadest set of customers.
