Sam let out a tiny sigh and shook his head. “I need to do this. If I can’t show up on my own, how the hell am I going to convince them that Maisy is safe in my care. I mean, I have to prove that I’m capable as a paralyzed man, as a man with a non-traditional job, and as a gay single dad. That’s a fucking lot.” Derek laughed quietly under his breath. “It is. You’re like the diversity poster-child.”
