All Boys Aren't Blue

We are not as different as you think, and all our stories matter and deserve to be celebrated and told.

Toni Morrison states in my favorite quote of all time, “If there’s a book that you want to read, but it hasn’t been written yet, then you must write it.”

As I got older, I would get hit on by guys and crack a smile. They would say, “You have a nice smile” and my instant reaction was to roll my eyes in disbelief.

We get to watch those who oppress us use our content with none of the repercussions we face.

People who are straight that associate with me now, as an adult, still get questioned about their sexuality. Simply because they are friends with me. Adults who participate in homophobia create kids that do the same.

Although we were taught to love and adore Abe Lincoln for freeing us from slavery, I never once questioned why a hundred years later, Martin Luther King Jr. was still fighting for our civil rights.
