Elsa and Kim already categorise her as such. In fact, the entire school considers her queen bee. After seeing her at the club, it’s hard for me to look at her from that perspective.
“I thought you didn’t like him.”
“It seemed that way at ...

That night, I mope around at the Meet Up.
Xander just returned from rehab
Unlike common belief, I don’t smoke weed every day. I only do it when I don’t want to be in my head or when I want to throttle someone and I know I can’t.
He and everyone on the team like to think I don’t keep secrets, and I perfected that image because I don’t want them to throw their darkest secrets on me. I don’t want to be the vessel of those because they only bring me down.
“Nash here was trying to start a battle by spending time with Teal, and Astor brought Silver and started his
own war after making us believe wars are beneath him. Astor has been trying to make us think he doesn’t care about his new fiancée who has a tendency towards satanic rituals and sarcasm, but he is actually contemplating the best way to kill Nash and bury him without anyone finding out. Oh, by the way, Nash is contemplating the same while pretending to read that book,
While Aiden and Cole share sadism and sociopathic tendencies — among other things — Xander and I have always been the closest. He’s the only one who knows about my secret. I told him a few years ago when he found me hiding at a party – when I never do that.
Xander has kept my secret since then. We might tease each other, but he always has my back, and I have his. I lied earlier — I’m not mad he didn’t tell me his secret. Besides, I played Cupid in his tale with Kimmy.
That’s why I felt kind of empty when he went to rehab. Of course, I’ll never admit that
“She does this sometimes. She disappears to purge by swimming or running and then she returns better.
“We don’t know. We never do.”
There’s nothing I hate more than running. And it’s not only because of the physical activity of it,
It’s the memories that come with running.
I let my legs lead me somewhere out of this place.
I spent the night running, then I went to the forest and ran some more, and now I’m back to the park.
Dad and Agnus already know, but they probably didn’t expect me to be gone for an entire day. That’s why I chose a night they were spending working in the office.
I need to purge more than the average person because when that darkness creeps in, I can’t shut it out. I can’t look the other way and pretend it’s not happening and the world can go on.
It’s the place Aiden inherited from his dead mother. It’s the only place where we get to be ourselves and just talk.
By the time I arrive at the Meet Up, it’s night-time.
I came here for Ronan. He’s also the only one here. I confirmed it when I spotted his car parked outside without a trace of the other guys’ vehicles.
Ronan isn’t the type of person who likes loneliness. While Aiden and Cole are completely comfortable with it and Xander can gravitate towards it sometimes, Ronan is always with people, one way or another.
I can see his scars, not like the ones on my knees, but the scars hidden underneath that six-pack and that charming smile. The scars no one sees but are known by him, the scars he hides by being with people.
Her care extends to a few people — Ethan, Knox, Elsa, and that fucking Agnus
Teal’s eyes snap open, and for a second, they appear like obsidian black holes.
It’s almost as if she’s not feeling her own tears, as if she’s not here. As if she doesn’t exist.
“My nightmare starts in a dark, long street. I’m the only person there, and I’m a child. It’s a bit haunting, a bit too silent, a bit too dark. I run down that street over and over again like a mouse trapped in a maze. I always end up on the same street with the same darkness and the same loneliness. I call for my parents, but neither of them answers. I don’t stop running or calling them, though. I say, ‘Mother. Father. I’m here. You forgot me here.’ They never come. I only wake up when one person comes.”
“Lars.”
“He’s the one who wakes me every morning. I always ignore my alarms.”
We share something, a feeling, a trauma.
“Do you like being hurt because of your nightmare?”
“Maybe.”
Someone appears in my peripheral vision. I’m sideways to the door while she’s facing away,
Cole. He stands by the door,

There’s no way in fuck I’ll let him see her naked, but that doesn’t mean he won’t see who she belongs to.
Cole always had a voyeurism kink — amongst others.
When I was stalking his Instagram, which goes back to years, I noticed that when he was around fifteen, he often posted pictures with the other three horsemen, Levi King – Aiden’s older cousin
and Silver. She was the only girl amongst the five of them. Then, little by little, she started to disappear from their pictures. Especially this year.
From what Kim mentioned before, she used to be close friends with Silver, but they fell apart when they were pre-teens and since then, Silver turned into a tormentor instead of a friend. However, neither Elsa nor Kim witnessed the other facet of Silver. Besides, after Kim was discharged from the hospital, Silver showed up, apologised to her and left.
Since I left the Meet Up over the weekend, all I’ve been thinking about is him.
Ronan always seemed to get along with Xander more than Cole and Aiden. Something tells me Xander is also more tolerant of Ronan’s personality than the other two.
voices coming from the inside stops me in my tracks.
His voice is familiar, I suppose because he’s Edric’s brother — the one who returned from Australia to help with the company.
“Run your mouth and I’ll run mine, my dear nephew. Remember Charlotte…”
“Poor, soft Charlotte. Breakable, depressed Charlotte.”
Lars. He drags me away from Ronan’s doorway, opens another door down the hall, and ushers me inside the room. He does a sweep of his surroundings before following me and closing the door. Lars is the head butler of the estate and a character straight out of a period drama.
“Don’t tell the madam about whatever you heard.”
