Kindle Notes & Highlights
Scenes, as I’ve mentioned before, are basically mini stories that build on top of each other to form your novel. What’s more, each scene follows a structure very similar to the Three Act Structure, though slightly abbreviated: Goal: Your characters are pursuing a goal. Challenges: They face various conflicts while trying to reach that goal. Outcome: There’s an outcome, either positive or negative.
Reaction: Your characters react to that outcome. Reflection: They consider their options going forward. Decision (New Goal): They make a decision, forming a new goal and beginning the cycle again.
