It is the Lord who restores the psalmist “to life from among those gone down to the Pit” (Ps. 30:3). It is the Lord who stands sovereign over “storm chaos” (Ps. 89:9–10), and who defeats “monstrous chaos” (Ps. 74:12–15). It is the Lord who ransoms the psalmist “from the power of Sheol” (Ps. 49:15).
