Home is meant to be a place, but for me Dec was my home. He was where I felt secure and loved, and time did nothing to diminish that. No matter what.
“Yeah, we’ve already got the book,” Fran agreed. “It’s as long as War and Peace,” Roger said. Fran snorted. “When did you ever read War and Peace?” “Well, I haven’t. Because I know it’s a bloody long and boring book.”
“Didn’t Jesus forgive Judas? I like to think, in my own way, I am like Jesus.”
It was strange to be talking to each other properly again even though we really hadn’t sorted anything out—we just had new dramas to replace the old ones.
I don’t even know why I said that. It’s not like I had anything against bruschetta. I quite liked bruschetta.
“Don’t put yourself down to try and make me feel better.”
“Now you’re quoting Kylie! We were meant to be together.”
He was still trying to find a place in a home he felt had rejected him.
“Who can really stand in the way of true love?” I asked. “Responsible adults,” Declan snapped.
It wouldn’t have been a party if the gays hadn’t been able to dance to Kylie.
Life continues throwing stuff your way. You just have to make sure you’re there to catch it.
