She could remain an optimist because she understood that the world was made exclusively for the innocent. Rooms to house the wicked weren’t included in the original architecture. Eventually, the world would be remodeled to restore it to its original purpose.
Stories were the greatest blessing of intelligence. They were food for the soul. They were medicine. You could live a thousand lives through stories—and learn to shape your own life into a story of the best kind.

Giving directions to Ben Hawkins could be accomplished without words because the man was smart enough to believe in the impossible when evidence showed him it was possible, after all. Sad to say, not all human beings were that open-minded. Some believed the most ridiculous things without a shred of evidence, but wouldn’t believe a truth even when it stuck its fingers in their eyes. So to speak.
Truth could not be redefined. Truth was what it was. The simple task of finding the truth was complicated only by the haystacks of lies you had to sort through to find the shiny needle.
simplicity in human affairs was the way of truth, and complexity the way of deceit. That envy and coveting were poisons from which arose the lust for power and all evil. That love was the antidote to envy and coveting. That truth was essential for the flourishing of love.
That love was essential to maintain innocence. That peace of mind and perfect happiness could be achieved only through the truth of innocence and the simplicity of truth.
Furthermore, both understood that all creatures with high cognitive ability, to one degree or another, were often fools and should embrace their foolishness rather than deny it. That understanding ensured humility.
Humility was the foundation for all lasting achievements.
Progress was real progress only when it evolved naturally and thoughtfully from the history of human experience and accumulated wisdom. When it was imposed in contempt for that experience and wisdom, then progress was in fact radical destruction.
