Jesus would never ask us to wound our own soul to allow someone else to thrive in sin. Other believers’ personal lives are under His ownership, not ours. We are not to get in the way of the work God wants to do in someone else’s life even if it’s hard. Covering for people can thwart necessary repentance. The Jesus-over-everything lifestyle is a daily practice of honesty with ourselves and others but, most of all, with ourselves and God. It’s courageous to help other people come clean.
