“For our children… that’s always been the excuse. If only they would be able to look us in eyes after everything we’ve done.”
“He has a very simplistic view of good and evil. When it comes down to who’s right, humans are always the good guys. There’s no telling him otherwise.”
Nayeli frowned, “You’re holding me. When you touch me in a sensual way, you’re turning me on in both dragon and human form. When we mate… the feeling is real. Isn’t that enough?”
“My work isn’t finished. Radley believed in a better world where neither human nor dragon lived in fear. He truly believed we could coexist. I didn’t want to die until I could go to him and tell him that I accomplished his dream. I want to show him that world.”
Warning, reactor failure imminent! Please proceed to the nearest escape ship. The emotionless female voice of the Nagato’s computer shot Kaori through the heart. The ship she’d called home was finished.
“Just… following… orders…” Nayeli hissed in disbelief. “I know human history. That phrase has been used to justify too many tragedies!”
John smirked, “With respect, sir. You’ve been fighting this war from the winning side for too long. We don’t exactly have a ton of resources or production facilities. At this point, we can only work with what we have. If that means raiding museums, then we’ll have you out flying spitfires if we have to.”
The room could barely be considered quarters, at least when compared to the Kali. There was no separate bedroom. A small metal table, two chairs, a desk, and a pair of bunk beds were the only furniture in the tiny space. A small bathroom stall with shower was off to the left. Nayeli frowned when she looked at the beds, “Could they have made those any smaller? Great… we won’t be having any fun on this ship.”
Alexei balled his fist. His face turned bright red. The look in his eyes made Kaori think that he would explode at any moment. All he needed was the right push, “Oh, does that upset you? Does it bother you to know that your brother has been fucking a dragon girl? Does it make your skin crawl to know what he does to her and that he does it willingly?”
We have ordered millions of young men and women into battle, knowing full well that most would likely never return. Why then should their ruler balk when called upon to face the enemy? My life and my purpose are the safety and security of the Empire and all of mankind. If it claims my life… I consider that of little consequence.”
“Most things that are worth fighting for are never easy.”
Fritz rolled his eyes, “Is there a point to any of this?” “Just making conversation.” “Well go make conversation with the wall.” Kaori frowned, “I did… he didn’t like what I had to say and stopped talking to me.”
“Your coronation only happens once.” “That’s one time too many. Honestly, they could have just slapped the crown on my head on the bridge of the Kali and put the whole thing to rest.”
