According to the yoga tradition, certain mental and emotional roadblocks interfere with our ability to connect, to see the truth, and to serve. These kleshas, or personal obstacles, include ignorance (avidya), pride or ego (asmita), desire (raga), aversion (dvesha), and fear or attachment (abhinivesa). Yoga doesn’t really see any of these as character flaws (thank God); they’re more like interruptions or disturbances that throw us off track.
