I have no idea why you did it. Your lack of kindness has been breathtaking. I can only imagine how little you thought of me, how tiny your regard.

‘Parents are such odd creatures. Everyone goes on about how much they want children and then they have them and they couldn’t care less.

‘I barely know my parents. They’re virtual strangers whom I occasionally spend Christmas with. I wish I didn’t mind. But I think I do.’
