I'm starting to learn that just because people make mistakes, it doesn't make them disposable. Even if the mistakes are big. If there's love there, and you care enough about another person, you work through it and you both become better people. I don't mean keeping toxic or abusive people in your life, but … Micah is human. Whatever he did to Tobias, he's a good person now, and that's what matters.
Our past isn't an anchor that keeps us tied to a shipwreck beneath the sea; it's the sail that we can collect wind in so that we can soar.
“It's okay to be soft and vulnerable sometimes. That's why I like that shit. It reminds me that I don't have to be on top of Mark Grandam, beating the shit out of him, to be happy. Life is balance, Chuck. Hard and soft. I'm too fucking hard sometimes; I need something to take the edge off.”
“I’m testing out extra nicknames, just so I’ve got fun things to call you from across the room. Babe seemed pretty tame, but knowing how much you love insults like condom face, ass pig, and toilet brush, I figure I’ll get creative next time. I’m playing around with my little slice of hot sauce toast, in homage to your favorite breakfast food.”
Spencer smirks and leans in, kissing a drop of ruby red blood away from the corner of my mouth. I smack him away again, but he just chuckles and burrows his face against the side of my neck. “Don’t you know about, like diseases and stuff? Don’t lick my blood, that’s gross.” “Don’t be so dramatic. What diseases could you possibly have?”
“I was getting ready to suck your dick, Charlotte Carson. I was looking up the ins and outs of anal sex, and if silicone lube was better than water-based—it is.” He pauses and smiles at me in a way that breaks my fucking heart and sews it back together all in a single glance. “If you think that I wouldn’t love you in sweatpants and pimples, then you’re just not paying attention.”
I plant one on Spencer’s lips, pulling back before he draws me into that fiery essence of his, and then running down the line to kiss each and every boy on the mouth. “Oh, that was fun,” I say as I hit the door with my back and push it open, spinning out into the office and then doing a triple fist pump and happy shimmy dance where no one can see. “You’ve left the door open,” Church says, and my face pales as I glance back to see that it hasn’t swung properly closed and everyone’s just seen me act like a total idiot.
“So, who’s going to be the first guy to bring me a strawberry milkshake from the Jaw Flapper? First one to do it gets to cuddle in bed with me.” “You think we’re actually to bother fighting over something like that?” Ranger says, and then pauses. “I better go get you something to eat though.” “Oh, no way, man, that shake is mine,” Spencer says, and they smirk at each other while the twins struggle to push each other back. “I’ll get the shake,” Church says, slipping out the door,
