Sun and Moon: Beautifully written. A radiant beacon in the dark abyss especially the darkness after losing someone. The meter and rhythm added a beautiful melody both sad and uplifting. I love the imagery of becoming stars sitting high in the night sky, reuniting with loved ones.

Snow: Absolutely brilliant imagery for portraying how as adults we become jaded to the things that once was a marvel to our childhood selves.

First Dates: I absolutely love this one for its pure honesty of how in this world of social media, trending technology/ fashion, and filters, we've lost the art of truly connecting with our fellow women/men

Atsila Rising: A beautiful and powerful bardic piece. This story embodies the strength of women to overcome hardships, a great-grandmothers song of a great ancestress who struggled and overcame. Truly masterful!

Beast: JL Willings has laid herself wide open as a book in these pages. The Beast is another raw poem that tugs deep within my stomach with its beautiful images of being vibrant in all colors to try and chase away the beast.

Cloaked feet sunk into water, draped arms reached towards my own. Fate pulled me from the depths and cradled me against his bones.

Death Called On Me Today: I love this line. This entire poem is another hauntingly beautiful piece, yet still very open and raw.

I am Jess.
Chasity Gaines
One of my favorite poems! "I Am Jess" is a powerful matriarchal piece giving the reader a closer look at JL Willings and the women of her family. This is a masterful and very empowering poem.
