The Earth’s orbit is 365 days, 6 hours, 9 minutes and 10 seconds: slightly more than 365.25 days. The Julian calendar is too short compared to the orbit. But it is too long compared to the seasons. Bizarrely, the seasons don’t even exactly match the orbital year.
