“We are what we believe we are.”
Doubt deters you from taking strategies seriously. Doubt erodes confidence. Doubt makes truth seem like lies. Doubt will feed your fear and give you more speaking nightmares. So you have to let go of your doubts and start believing in yourself.
Doubt and fear held me back for many years. As I become more evolve in life experiences, I learned to live my truth, which allows me to face my fears without doubting myself.
Remember Mark Twain’s words: “Courage is not the absence of fear, but the mastery of it.”
If you change your perspective, invest in your preparation, and take time to practice, then I promise you, you will overcome your fear of public speaking.
“The unexamined life is not worth living.” Socrates
When your past pain no longer defines you, then your present fear begins to be eased.
Don’t ruin future successes by ignoring past pain.
Your past embarrassment doesn’t define your current activities.
The possible good outweighs the possible bad.
“Be yourself; everyone else is already taken.” Oscar Wilde
Know your content, and the weight of the words you say will decrease along with your nerves.
You will never be comfortable trying to be someone else.
Be a real version of yourself, not a poor imitation of someone else.
When you understand you, it helps you be you. Identify your strengths, your propensities, your natural styles of development, and your aptitudes. Discover you. Then, lean into your youness.
PERCEPTION AFFECTS RECEPTION
Your perception of who the audience is will affect their reception of your speech.
“Never be so busy as not to think of others.” Mother Teresa
What you focus on is where you are headed.
Shift your focus. Think about them. How can you help them? How can you instruct them? How can you lift them up? How can you educate them? How does your pitch serve them?
Ask yourself: how can I help, serve, entertain, inform, educate, or inspire them? I want to serve them. The irony is that when you focus on them, they begin to like you.
The more you value your audience, the more they will value you.
Listening makes you more intelligent.
“Where focus goes, energy flows.” Tony Robbins
“Light yourself on fire with passion, and people will come from miles to watch you burn.”
If you compare and compete, you will live in defeat.
The more you put in, the more you will get out.
Changing your perspective is like strengthening your core and willpower. Preparing yourself is like strengthening your base. That is like putting in a good leg day at the gym. Practicing will lead people to see noticeable results.
