Josephine Harris was pronounced dead at age sixty-nine. Her funeral mass was conducted by Cardinal Edward Egan, archbishop emeritus of New York, with luminaries including former Mayor Rudy Giuliani. She was laid to rest inside a blue steel coffin, its silken interior embroidered with an image of a firefighter walking hand in hand with an angel.
