“I was angry at the soft ones for doing this to me before I met you.” He gestured to his body. “But now, I can only thank them.” I rose to my feet and went to him, wrapping my arms around his waist. His clasper hands unfolded and settled over my shoulders. “Do you ever miss the before-time?” His upper hands stroked over my hair. “No. You weren’t there.”
I couldn’t leave her at all. I would rather hide away forever in the shadows of her life than be separated from her.
