Here’s the thing, I make really shitty decisions. I know I’m making them, and yet, I follow through with them anyway because, if I’m going to fuck something up, I should do it properly, right?

“My name’s Kais St. Croix. I’ll be your guide while in Wander. We are currently headed toward the Wanderlust Kingdom, the Kingdom of Hearts, as some like to call it. There we will meet with King Constantine, Konstance, the royal court, and of course the Profit.”

If sex had a poster child, it’d be Kais St. Croix. Coincidently, if America’s Most Wanted had a poster child, it’d also be Kais St. Croix.

“Wanderlust is like a feeling. But it’s also a sort of magic this world gives us. The longer you’re here, the more that magic settles into you.”

Thank God he didn’t use the accent on me from the start or my infatuation with my captor would have blown right into planning the wedding of Mr. and Mrs. Fuck You.

“I was a general in the Civil War.” “The winning side,” Cat whispers while my head spins.

I swear this woman’s going to fuck up a Kingdom as well as a rebellion. History is full of beautiful women making stupid men do stupid fucking things to the point of destruction. That’s what I see when I look at this beautiful fucking woman: destruction.

I grew up with books and movies in place of friends. Between those fictional pages, I’ve loved a thousand men, met a thousand friends, and I’ve also met my fair share of villains. No one spots a villain faster than a book nerd.

I’m a stupid drunk. I’m “that girl,” apparently. That one who fakes alertness by simply widening her eyes to a raccoon state.

The last thing I remember is Alixx Stone’s fingers searing across every inch of my skin: my ribs, my stomach, hips, and thighs. If this is death, maybe I’ve never really lived.

“Kais?” Her lips barely move to speak my name, and I’m on my knees in front of her in an instant. She brings me to my knees that fast.
