I never meant to be a monster, but sometimes I wondered if certain people were born that way, born with a darkness that oozed into their bloodstreams and infected their souls.
Maybe parents were still kids with old, tired hearts, and every time they beat, they cracked a little more.
I tasted her heaven as I fed her my sins.
“Why do you always do that?” I asked. “Why do you always say “I love you” twice?” She smiled. “Once for your heart. Twice to leave an imprint.”
