Resolve to fight every sin in your life. Mortify it all (Romans 8:13, KJV). From the “little white lies” to what we would classify as serious transgressions, kill each iniquity as though your life depended on it.
God does not prevent any person from coming to Him in repentance and faith. The prevention is in us. Because of our sin, we don’t want God. We had rather be our own “gods” and run away from Him.
We live in a day where entire denominations preach about a world without sin, a God without holiness, and a cross devoid of Christ’s substitution. And without that, we are hopeless.
A lot of people claim to be Christians who are not ever in awe of God. It’s like pulling teeth to get them to come regularly to church. Their Bible is rarely read. Prayer is almost nonexistent. These people have not truly understood the fullness of the gospel. And maybe that’s because we’ve too often made the gospel into something primarily about us. The gospel is not primarily about us. It is first and foremost about a holy God.
