IT’S COOL NOT GROWING OLD. I LIKE BEING THE ETERNAL STUD. —Damon Salvatore, The Vampire Diaries, Season 1, Episode 4
When a man sees something that several other men want, he can’t help but want it, too.
When I see something I want, I reach for it without hesitation.
“Myron, just because you were a virgin when we met, it doesn’t mean I was.”
Janelle Lucas liked this
“All your features are the best. No other woman holds a candle to you.”
“Oh, Alessandra. If only I’d known you sooner. I would never ignore you.”
“Have you ever been in love?” “No,” he says. “Not ever. What’s it like?” “Horrible.”
“You can hardly blame us, sire. She was naked.” Kallias steps forward, draws his sword, and puts it through the one who spoke.
“What are you looking at?” “That should be obvious. Perhaps you’d like to ask me what I’m thinking instead?”
“I’m thinking,” he answers, “that you are quite beautiful, and every man at this table wishes he were me right now.”
“I lied. You’re the most stunning thing to ever set foot in my palace.”
“I decided I’d rather be out here with you, and I cut it short.”
“Do you like music?” “I think I would like your music.”
He takes one glance at me on the ground, at the red outline of a handprint on my cheek, before turning back to the assassin. “You’ll die for that,
“I want to know what you’re thinking about right now.” “You couldn’t handle it.”
I try the door connecting our two rooms. It’s unlocked. “Why wouldn’t you lock this?” I ask. “Why would I when it’s you on the other side?”
“He kissed you. Here.” A leather-clad finger trails along my skin. “Yes, he did.” “I don’t want him doing that. I want to do that.”
“I told you, you’re my equal. You’ve assisted me in more ways than one. You’ve been my constant companion these last couple of months, and I don’t ever want you to leave, Alessandra. I want to show you how I respect and appreciate you.”
“I want you by my side, helping me make decisions for the kingdom. I want you to help me conquer the last three kingdoms in this vast world. I want you to be my equal, Alessandra. My queen.
“My little hellion. Quite the force to be reckoned with, aren’t you? Oh, say you’ll marry me, Alessandra!”
“I need you, Alessandra. Say you’ll be mine and I’ll be yours.”
“You’re so beautiful it hurts.”
“But I’m desperate for you all the same. And though I will not have millennia to live, I want to give however many years I have left to you. Because I love you. I love the woman who saved me. And though she doesn’t need me, I want her. Fiercely.
“And you rubbed in the fact that you’re marrying a handsome king, while she’s stuck with a shriveled duke.” I take the letter back and scan it over. “I don’t recall writing the word handsome anywhere in here.” “An oversight, I’m sure. You could always start again. Here, I’ll help.”
Kallias’s eyes narrow. “Perhaps you should give me a list of the men whose attentions you acquired. For curiosity’s sake, nothing more, of course.” I grin. “Liar. You’d murder them all.” “Any man who took advantage of your grief and neglect deserves whatever punishment I see fit.”
