“This might come as a shock to you, but when it comes to women who are into women, a lack of equipment is rarely a problem.”
“Camilla,” Lindsey said. “I was thinking. About your proposal.” “And?” “And my answer is yes.” The other end of the line was silent. “Which parts of my proposal are you referring to?” Camilla asked. “All of it,” Lindsey said. “Yes, I’ll come live with you. Yes, I’ll be your companion. Yes, I’ll be your submissive. Yes to everything.”
Maybe she wasn’t as straight as she thought she was.
It’s a fundraising gala for a library downtown. These things are always so dull, but considering I practically gave them the building, I should probably make an appearance.” “You gave away a building?” “I sold it for a fraction of what it was worth, so I might as well have,” Camilla said.
“Hi, Camilla.” “Camilla? That’s no way to address your Mistress.” There was a sultry edge to Camilla’s voice. “Do I need to get out the cane?” Heat rushed to Lindsey’s face. Not to mention other places. She got up from the bed as casually as she could and turned away to look out the window so Faith couldn’t see her bright red face. “Well?” Camilla said. “Um, I’m hanging out with Faith at the moment.” “Oh? And you’re too shy to call me Mistress in front of her?” “Yes,” Lindsey said.
“Stop worrying about what you think you should or shouldn’t feel, and just let yourself feel it.”
“That’s awfully fast, don’t you think?” Denise’s eyes never left Lindsey’s face. “You know what they say about lesbian relationships. Well, I suppose you wouldn’t.”
She was worried that I’d break your heart.” “Really?” Camilla looked out the window pensively. “Huh. It looks like we played our roles a little too well.” Lindsey felt a sinking in her stomach. Right. This is all just pretend. “Yeah. I guess we did.”
“But it’s worth it. Even if it means putting your heart on the line and risking everything, it’s so worth it.” Vicki turned to Lindsey. “Tell her. Before it’s too late. You’ll regret it otherwise.”
Camilla pulled Lindsey in close. “I want this to be real too. From now on, no more pretending.”
“Lindsey?” Camilla’s voice cut through the stillness of the room. “Mm?” “I love you.”
I love her so much, Faith. I never thought I’d fall for another woman, let alone one so much older than me, but here I am. Whenever I’m with her, I feel like I’m having this wonderful, impossible dream.
I don’t think your feelings for Camilla were fake at the start. You were practically swooning after that first date with her. From the outside, your feelings always seemed real, even if you didn’t realize it at the time.”
Every time I said I was yours, I meant it. Every time I said I miss you, I meant it. Every time I said I love you, I meant it. And I still do. That’s the truth.”
But the manor? That was home. And it always would be, as long as Camilla was there.
