The first step to combatting this starts with us. Our sense of identity is so entangled with our values and convictions that we can overlook something vital: we are not our ideas. We are not defined by beliefs, but by our ability to think. To be human is to err, blessed with the capacity to correct ourselves. There is no shame in being wrong, only in refusing to rectify our mistakes.
