gotten better over the years at dealing with my fear that people will hate me, and one thing that helps is the knowledge that a certain percentage of the people you encounter are always going to hate you, and for no particular reason. It’s going to be a constant through your life. Once you come to grips with this knowledge, it’s liberating. You’re not afraid of trying to appease people and make them like you, because you know you can’t. It might sound nihilistic, but in this instance, resignation will save you.
