At any given moment, an estimated several hundred amateur astronomers are watching the International Space Station as it passes overhead, visible from between two to six minutes. Now orbiting on a new axis, the ISS had attracted a flurry of attention from this small international community of “station gazers.”
Rick Barnes
An avid station gazer here, two minutes for a low (30 Degrees) pass as opposed to high (65 degrees or higher), which take about six minutes. It is also worth noting the brightness changes of the station's metal skin, reflecting the sun's light. Sometimes noticing redness as ISS enters Earths shadow,* where it spends half it's time. A sunrise / sunset about every 45 minutes! *umbra
