Regarding formalities, students should address a teacher by title to show respect, unless the teacher specifies otherwise. The student needs to have a deep interest in the teacher, to the point of being captivated, because everything about that teacher offers meaningful information to students. However, the student must not worship the teacher, nor must the student be blind to the teacher’s shortcomings. Instead, the student observes and learns, conscientiously seeking to discern what is of value as well as what is not, while showing deep respect.
