Why have eyes if the soul can see without them? There would be an immense survival advantage to having eyes that can never be blinded, as well as a mind that was not as fragile or vulnerable to drugs or injury or asphyxiation as the brain is. And if we didn’t need all that brain, we could have a smaller head, and fewer mothers would die in labor.
