Countries succeed when leaders abandon their egos to fulfil the hopes of society and achieve great things. Countries succeed when political power is used as a means to cement the people’s desires, and not simply as an end unto itself.
For many decades, our region has suffered from this utterly self-defeating and oppressive thinking: that terror is a solution to injustice. Countries have lost thousands – even hundreds of thousands – of people to this philosophy of hatred.
Every day, I delegate authority to young men and women, striving to empower them to lead their country and add their contribution to it. We do not tolerate corruption, we do not undermine the rule of the law, nor are we lax in the implementation of the plans we launch. That is how we are building Dubai today.
