In August 1982, Olof Palme’s friend Ruth First was killed by a mail bomb in her place of work in Maputo, Mozambique. In June 1984, the anti-apartheid activist Jeannette Schoon and her six-year-old daughter, Katryn, were killed by a letter bomb in Lubango, Angola.
